Macleod-Rosanna dropped the name ‘Rosanna’ from its name and reverted back to Macleod.
Lower Plenty join the competition (div 2) from the Southern Football League.

1996

A final 5 is introduced to division 2.

1998

West Preston and Reservoir-Lakeside merge and play as West Preston-Reservoir in 1999.
Reservoir-Lakeside went into recess prior to the commencement of this season.

2003

West Preston-Lakeside win their first premiership.
A final 6 is introduced to division 2.
Parkside join the competition (div 2) From the Victorian Amateur Football Association.

2007

After a turbulent off season, the Diamond Valley Football League re-emerged in 2007 under a new name.
Heidelberg, unsuccessfully seeked a transfer to the Eastern Football League in the off season of 2006.
Eltham play their home matches at variety of different venues.
Reservoir and Fawkner Park went into recess for season 2007.

2008

Fitzroy Stars joined the Northern Football League for season 2008 - their first competitive football since going into recess in 1994. They shared Crispe Park with Reservoir as their home ground.
Wallan leave and rejoin the Riddell District Football League.
Kinglake leave and rejoin the Yarra Valley Mountain District Football League.

2009

After thirteen rounds, the bottom six clubs of division 2 form a third division whilst the remaining clubs played off for the Division 2 premiership.

2010

St Marys join the competition.
A final 5 is introduced to division 1.

2011

South Morang won their first ever senior premiership.

2014

Parkside leave the competition and rejoins the Victorian Amateur Football Association.

2015

Banyule join the competition from the Victorian Amateur Football Association.

2016

Mernda move from Merda Recreation Reserve to Woodland Waters Reserve.
Kilmore join the competition from the Riddell District Football League.
Reservoir go into recess as the club was unable to reach the minimum number of players required to compete in the upcoming season.

2017

Reservoir rejoin.
Laurimar join the competition.

2018

Lalor requested relegation to Division 3 after a mass exodus of senior players crippled the club’s playing list. Epping will move into Lalor’s place on the Division 2 fixture and, conversely, Lalor will take Epping’s place on the Division 3 fixture.

2020

Season 2020 cancelled due to The COVID-19 pandemic.
