The 1950 Croydon-Ferntree Gully Football League season was the 21st season of the Australian rules football competition and first under the new name. The Premiership was won by the Kilsyth Football Club, after it defeated Croydon in the Grand Final by 2 points. It was Kilsyth's second Premiership, and first under the Croydon-Ferntree Gully Football League banner.
In 1950 Seven delegates from the Croydon Mail Football League met under a tree in Forest Road, Ferntree Gully, with the view of changing the league’s name once again.
The men wanted to start a new league to incorporate football clubs from Ferntree Gully, Scoresby and Mulgrave, but only two new clubs joined the league. So the league changed their name instead. All clubs from 1949 return for the 1950 season except East Ringwood, they join the Eastern Suburban Football League. Warrandyte rejoin after being in recess in 1949, Ferntree Gully & Upper Ferntree Gully also join the competition. Ferntree Gully previously played in the Dandenong & District Football Association and Upper Ferntree Gully, a club that was formed in 1949, previously played in the Mountain District Football Association. |
